Theft protection and registration
A sculpture stands free in the garden, often at a house that is empty over the winter. The question is a fair one, and it comes up at nearly every appointment.
Registration
Every work we sell is photographed, measured and recorded with its full details. You get the documentation together with the object, and we keep a duplicate.
The use of it is not romantic: a registered, documented unique work is close to unsellable on the market, and the people who take such things know it. The best protection against theft is that the object is worthless to anyone else.
Mechanically
Bolted into the foundation, see Foundation and anchoring. That puts an object beyond moving in a few minutes, and no outdoor fixing does more than that.
Insurance
Should you wish to insure the work: art outdoors is usually not covered by an ordinary household policy, or only up to a small amount. As a rule you need a separate item or a dedicated art policy. What applies to your policy is for your insurance company to tell you.
What we supply is the basis for it: purchase receipt, work documentation, photographs, stated value. With those, registering the item is a formality.
